Relatively speaking 0 degrees is -18 celius. Therefore, if it is twice as cold in Alaska it would be -36 celius which converts to -33 degrees fahrenheit. Assuming you are using fahrenheit it would be -33 in Alaska.

Alaska and Chicago are both on US measuring systems, so for the problem we assume it is in Fahrenheit. Zero is 32 degrees below freezing. Twice and cold as that would be 32 below zero, or -32 degrees.

For simplicity, let's assume the question means zero Celsius.
That means the amount of heat is 273 degrees Kelvin (zero Kelvin is the coldest temperature in the universe). Half the amount of heat (ie twice as cold), would be 136.5 Kelvins, which would be -136.5 degrees Celsius. Wow, that's pretty cold.
