James, in the words of Sean Hannity. Let not your Heart be troubled. The reason the Republicans lost the House and Senate is because true Conservative sent a clear message to any and all RINO's out there to either fall in behind Reagan or work on their Resume.
Conservatism didn't loose, Republicanism did. The Conservative message has not waivered, has not changed, only its messengers have. And Conservatism being what it is, we the people hold accountable those who claim to represent us.
We are not like Liberals who will defend and make excuses for our Representatives.
If our Congressmen are smart they will fall in line or get out of the way.

Of course they will care, as far as I'm concerned (I am not a Republican by the way) that's why your party is grooming up Rudy Guliani who I think is their hope in trying to win back ground with the current political climate.
The Democrats took Congress because of the fact that Bush would not listen to the public's concerns (and still isn't) in regards to the Iraq war and would not look beyond the numbers in terms of the economy which in my view is not a matter of higher numbers but what people are really getting out of it in terms of their career and their ability to make it, I mean things are more expensive than they used to be, especially energy. There is also a greater concern for our future survival when it comes to global warming that even long time conservative Christians are becoming vocal in stopping it.
Obviously, the only way the Republicans can keep the White House is to seek a candidate with a more middle ground than Bush only said he would have. Guliani, and in some ways McCain are the ones they see that out of. But the way it has been, I'd say that Democrats will certainly continue to have control of Congress for a while and if there is no significantly different rhetoric out of the GOP, then I'd say that we'd see a Democrat in the White House as well.

I think a lot of Republicans are kinda thinking like you and at this point it's like damage control. Because really, its like do you want a (half) African man, he is wonderful man, or a (white) woman, she is definitely a leader ;).
Honestly, the Republican party doesn't stand a chance for the next 8 years.

I was wondering the same thing. After their present disaster, many of them probably would like a break.
As for Hillary Clinton,if the Democrats nominate her,my guess is that the next president will be John McCain.

For the most part, the looney righties lost their seats, while moderate republicans stayed. Run a moderate like Rudy and I'll even vote for him.
