Create a safe space by minimising noises, movement and people.

Let them know that you are there if they need anything, be it to talk or provide a blanket. Offer them a warm or cool drink (non-alcoholic).

They may choose to not talk initially, but knowing that you are there will be a comfort.

Be patient and give them time. If you are peaceful that will bring them peace.

It all depends on that person,when I get distressed I don't want anyone around me. some people need someone,look and observe that person and try to give to that person what they need, a hug is always good, a touch .a kind word, perhaps a prayer if they believe in a God.I wish Y'all the best,If I knew more about the person I could comment more

Depends on the type of distress. CPR for breathing problem, Choking- Heimlich Accident call 911 or band aid, crying - a shoulder depression listening ear
