Advertisers use women's bodies not only to sell their products, but they sell ideas about women's sexuality. There are a few companies such as Dove, who aim to not promote skinny women in ads. Search for their "campaign for real beauty". Unfortunately, what it comes down to is we're more likely to buy a product if a sexy woman is selling it. Another angle is that say a husband and wife are watching tv, and a Victoria's Secret ad comes on. The wife sees the husband staring at the lingere model, and she gets jealous. To win back her husband's attention, she goes out and buys the lingere outfit from tv. No matter what, sex sells.

In short, is it sexism the fact that we have natural "urges" and
advertisers key on that to sell their products because it works?

Unfortunately, because people are more likely to buy a product if they think it will make them look like those models. It makes the product more attractive to have a pretty face behind it.
