I still do not believe in the creation myth to the extent that religious fanatics do and what it says in the bible, but even though I prefer science and think of that to explain a lot of things, the truth is we will never know for certain about how the universe was born at all, which as someone else here said, it is all where faith comes into a person's life.
Nothing occurs without a reason, but the opposite is also true, everything occurs with a reason, which is one stance where the existence of god has been questionable and fought over for thousands of yours.
To say for certain that the creation myth is not a myth at all, even just providing a website with an article that favours only one position rather than both or multiple is not enough to much people believe, only when they die, will they ever truely know for sure what is true and what isn't, perhaps not even then.

Instead of putting my beliefs on any book like the bible or believing only in a "one and true god," I am content with the spirituality of Paganismt that I have now and am content with not knowing the answers to everything until it is my time to learn about them.

if i was chance i wouldn't be putting some crappy corrupt americans face on the side of a mountain.

Plus, we developed slowly from bacteria etc to survive, it was the natural next step for us to get more complex to survive. But it is not the natural next step for that mountain to start turning a bit of rock sticking out of the side of the rock mountain into a nose and then make a perfect eye shape, and then a mouth and a chin and the times it by how ever may heads there are. It just doesn't work that way! The rock did not have to adapt to its environment and say 'oh i think that i will die if i don't create a nose that looks like Abraham Lincon' and then only the mountains with noses like abraham lincon survived.

not saying that you sdouldn't believe in god, good on you sometimes i wish i beleive but i can't and i also think this is a stupid argument for god being there you need a differnt example i agree with the other guy, errosion would stop the chance of there being faces on any rock heads.

You seem sincere, so I won't be mean (I'm generally NOT, unless others start it!). As an atheist, I must tell you that it is illogical to claim that since only a HUMAN (a being with thought, hands, purpose, etc.) could have made say, Mt. Rushmore, that therefore, anything as complex as the cosmos MUST have been "created" by a superior being.

You leave out the question all theists seem to HATE: If that supreme being is complex enough to have made a cosmos, and any complex thing needs MAKING by an intelligent entity (in your words, "god"), then that very being WOULD NEED A MAKER!

In short: WHO MADE GOD?!

If you say, "He/she/it just appeared/was/began, etc.", then, LOGICALLY, you must be open to the possibility that something as complex as the universe you claim ONLY a god could make JUST "Began" (for example with the Big Bang)! You see? There's no getting around that question...sorry!

As Basil Exposition says to Austin Powers about time travel: "It's best not to think about it", I say it's best for us, with our limited human brains not to bother about whether or not there's a god. If it makes you feel good, then believe it. Personally, I don't need that.

So...if God's out there and responsible for all this wonderful stuff, why didn't he carve giraffes into the sides of other mountains and things like that? Why wasn't there already an impeccable diorama of designs on Mount Rushmore before people thought to carve anything on it? I mean, if the best that God can do is a plain old straight-faced mountain, and people had to come along and carve the designs in it...I can see this being an argument for the existence of man (which no one, I think, is disputing). But of God? Doesn't really do anything for me.

So are you saying the face on Mars is carved by Aliens???
It is possible random chance can create faces. The reason it doesn't happen so often is because their is a disadvantage to have a face on the mountain. Weather would destroy fine features like noses. Thats why we have to give Washington a touch up.

I guess that quite honestly it is not provable. That is where faith comes in. I just wonder how many of those who believe only believe solely because it is what they are taught instead of questioning and learning. Blind faith is dangerous yet it can be helpful to some. It just isn't my way. Respect to all those who believe differently though.
