Why does everybody ask for free and legal downloads know nothing about binary newsgroups?

There are many FREE gui frontends that have search features and many websites that post what's where, when, and for how long.

Because UseNet was before my time, WAAAAY before my time. If it doesn't have a GUI front end, I don't want anything to do with it. If it doesn't have a useful, integrated search feature, I want nothing to do with it... see where this is going?
