I am a Junior in High School and want to become either a Dentist or a Lawyer. What majors should I major in to become either of them?

Biology for dentist. Political Science, communication for Lawyer. The main thing would be to get a bachelors of Science (not Arts) so you will get the backgrounds you need.

Good luck. Ask a career counselor at your school, they help a lot.

Can't comment on dentistry...

Law winds up attracting a lot of people with liberal arts or social science degrees, so you'll see a lot of people with history, philosophy and poly sci degrees in law schools. However (and you might check with an actual law school about this) law schools are principally looking for people with good reasoning skills and the ability to digest large amounts of complicated written material quickly, so someone with a background in the hard sciences (which would presumably be good for something medical) wouldn't necessarily be at a disadvantage. Just make sure you have a high GPA and a good score on the LSAT and you'll probably have no trouble getting into a good school. Good luck.

Try a pre-dent or pre-law degree. Some colleges dont offer pre- degrees so you may have to settle. It will be very hard to choose a major that would allow you to make a decision like that after about your sophomore year of college. Most of the course work for a bachelors of science (which you would need for dentistry) would translate to a bachelors of art. I would suggest either going the general studies route or picking one. In general studies (I like to call them G-Studs), you will have a variety of classes that will show you what to expect from a variety of majors. If you choose one, then take the right major. For dentistry, I would choose a science major....probably like biology or biomed. For law, political science or some history related field.

Just to be safe though, Go talk to an advisor at the college you wish to attend. They will have the best advice for your specific situation.

In short, it doesn't matter.

Choose a major that you enjoy studying. If you enjoy stidying everything, then a general studies major wouldn't be such a bad thing. However, some colleges don't offer general studies as a major, so pick a major. After you pick a major, make sure to minor in pre-dentistry or pre-law, whichever you decide to pursue.

Just remember that Pre-Dentistry and Pre-Med are not really degree programs, they are programs of study that lead to the fulfillment of entrance requirements to a Med or Law School.

Focus on the sciences and math... for both. I would also add that for a legal profession, advanced oratory experience really helps. Join the debate club.

They are vastly different. General College might fit both. But you should center your electives around Chemistry and Poltics or Contemporary American Problems.
