I just finished watching Little Miss Sunshine & I thought it was one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. It is about a disfunctional family like yours and mine. Aside from that my other favorites would be Shawshank Redemtion, Schindlers List, Blackhawk Down, and Mystic River.
