The Cubs. Yes, they got Soriano, along with Marquis, but their biggest addition is Lou Piniella. He can shape the talent in front of him into at least a division winner, probably more. With Lee back at first, they have three huge bats, along with Soriano and Ramirez. Zambrano anchors a good starting pitching group, with Hill and Marquis hopefully becoming the #3 and #4 starters behind Prior. The bullpen is OK. I think Wood may be better suited as a closer anyway.

Don't bet against the Cardinals. They always seem to find a way to patch up the team year after year and perpetually contend, and there's no reason to believe this year will be any different.

If for some reason one of the other 5 teams steals the division, it'll most likely be Houston. The Cubs are, well... the Cubs. Milwaukee will be in the hunt but fall short in the end. The other two teams have little-to-no hope this season, but Pittsburgh should contend by 2010.

Bagwell's retirement will hurt Houston bad, The Cubs, well the Cubs, for some reason this team always spends a lot of money to know avail. These are really the only teams that are able to challenge the Cardinals but neither team will overtake them. Sorry

Watch out for the Cubs if they ever get their pitching staff healthy. The Cards will probably repeat and the Brewers, they say, are an up and coming team. All this from a Reds fan. Go figure.

I am picking the Cardinals but if the Cubs get 1 more starter and a little in relief they can contend with the Cards. They definitely have enough firepower.

I have to give the edge to the Cubs. I like the moves they made during the off season.

If Prior and Wood never show up, the Cubs have a chance...If they picth more than a game each, we're doomed again.
