"electromagnetic phenomena" are forms of energy that travel at the speed of light thru space. examples include light, x-rays, infrared light, gamma rays, etc. these can also be called "radiation" as well.
this electromagnetic ( EM ) energy is thought to consist of waves of electricity and magnetism. thus it is a mixture of these both.
according to the theories developed by James Clerk Maxwell, the creation or collapse of a electric field generates a corresponding magnetic field at right angles to the electric field. this magnetic field then generates another electric field and so ad infinitum. note however, that the fields are generated only when the electric field oscillates ( forms and collapses ). a stationary field will NOT create another corresponding magnetic field.
in other words, you must have a moving electrical field in order to create EM radiation.
the rate at which this field oscillates is the frequency and gives the EM wave its character ( color for example ).

Whenever a current passes through a conductor, it produces an electromagnetic wave. This is why, a cable carrying voice or data must not be near a wire carrying electricity, or else the electomagnetic radiation produced will cause interference.

the difference between sound waves and electromagnetic ones is the difference in a wave across a slinky that is a series of compressions and rarefactions( a fancy word for streches) and the wave across a jump rope where it is going up and down any point along a slinky is moving left and right during the motion of the wave any point along a jump rope is moving up and down also sound waves are across air while electromagnetic waves are using different types of spacial media such as photons

They contains ultra low frequency fields from power lines, radiowaves for communication, lights from the sun (infrared rays, visible rays, and ultra violet rays), and radiations for medication (X-rays and ヲテ-rays).
