The great Taoist master Chuang Tzu once dreamt that he was a butterfly fluttering here and there. In the dream he had no awareness of his individuality as a person. He was only a butterfly. Suddenly, he awoke and found himself laying there, a person once again. But then he thought to himself, "Was I before a man who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being a man?"

I was once asked by a teenager,
caught in the midst of angst,
if life was worth all the grief and pain,
the sorrow and suffering.
I thought for a bit
and found I had but one reply
to the question.
A resounding, yes.
It was worth all the turmoil and trouble
to make the trip.
I had learned so much
and seen even more.
Life is so diverse and full of joy
that I would be sorry to leave it
as I must.
The experiences I have had
and the pleasures I have found
has made life a journey
that I could not miss.
So, yes!
It is worth it all
to walk life’s path
regardless where it takes you.
You can be sure
it would be somewhere
you would otherwise,
have missed.
Life has its bumps and even disasters, but though it all, it is worth it. Remember the philosopher’s admonition: “That which does not kill you makes you stronger!”

Thank you for this question. Life is such a wonderful gift. I am so grateful that I lived during this time and in this place. When you think that throughout human history the most common experience is that war, economic problems, plagues and diseases have prevented people from fulfilling their life purpose. I am so thankful that I was born into a time of freedom and prosperity which has given me this rare opportunity.

Life is beyond the power of words to describe. Life is much better without trying to label everything. Amazing is a good label though. I am amazed pretty much all the time.
