"The Lost Colony"-- Jamestown is another place entirely, and was the first successful colony. This colony was in what is now North Carolina.

Some of the colonists went back to England for supplies and were gone about two years. When they came back, the colonists were all gone and no one knows for sure what happened to them.

No serious researcher has postulated UFOs or Big Foot, but the fact is that no one knows for sure what happened: if they were captured by natives and forcibly removed, if they went willingly with a band, if they tried to relocate (the word CROATAN was carved on a tree: this could have referred to an island by that name or to a group of Native Americans) and what their ultimate fate was-- did they all die off or intermarry with natives? Many solutions have been proposed but hard evidence is lacking.

Roanoke Island is located in Pamlico sound in N. Carolina, not far from Kitty Hawk of Wright Brothers fame, worked and the first powered flight took place. You can see both in a single day.

There is really not much mystery left as to the fate of the ones who stayed behind. Excellent books have been written on the subject so the events are clear. No UFOs or other nonsense apply.

Later adventurers who headed inland found blue eyed Indian children. Other Indians made it clear that they stopped some of the escapees when they tried to enter Chesapeake Bay. So sorry, the story is ordinary.
