Yikes how aggravating! I remember having great luck with nail polish remover with all sorts of permanent inks in the past BUT I would definately find a hidden area of the sofa and try this, as well as any other method, to see if it stains and if it works. The jar where you dip your finger and it has a little wand for pedicures works great to use the wand.

I have also used hair spray on regular ink. I don't think it works on Sharpies but not sure. But I know the nail polish remover does, just am not sure if it's safe on your sofa.

I would try to do this ASAP because the longer any stain like this sets the harder it will be to get off. Sure hope it isn't as big and bad as it sounds. If it was one small spot there is always a throw or extra pillows but you "all over" comment doesn't sound that promising. GOOD LUCK!

I used to work in a leather store and we got asked this all the time.

I would suggest that you go to a fine leather store and ask them what leather cleaning products they have. The kind used on jackets is typically the gentlest, so maybe look for that first.

However, this will probably only lighten the stains. To be honest, I would say you have a pretty slim chance of getting it cleaned off, mainly because the ink will have soaked into the leather and cleaners aren't going to penetrate through that (a chemical that harsh would probably damage that leather).

So if you can't get it cleaned off, I suggest buying a cover for your couch.

Good luck.

not sure what a sharpie pen is........but to get rid of ball point pen marks on leather/plastic furniture or handbags etc - just spray with hairspray and rub off (may be best to do an unconspicuous corner first to make sure its not gonna damage)

All I have ever used that would get sharpie off of anything was Lysol spray. But I don't know if you want to spray that on your leather sofa.

I had this problem, thanks to my 1 year old daughter. I used hairspray, and then made sure to quickly wipe with water. I then went to a leather store, and bought a moisturizing cream (I believe it was Saddle Cream) to ensure that my leather was returned to its previous state.

I would test a small area first, to see if it works on your couch. It worked for me, but it was right after it happened.

Consult a leather furniture store for assistance.

try using rubbing alcohol on a papertowel. After you remove the marker with the rubbing alcohol wash the residue off with soap and water.
OR try nail polish remover.

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.......they clean almost anything, and no chemicals, just water.
