Linda Perry wrote this song about her father who died and Christina just sings it.

She didnt lose anyone but thought that it was a subject matter that she has yet to sing about. Linda Perry who worked with Christina on the record actually wrote most of the lyrics and then Christina changed them to appeal to her audience. Linda actually did lose someone and that is why the lyrics do seem so deep. No disrespect to Christina, I love her like none other, but she shouldnt be given much of the credit for the song's lyrics. However, that song delivered by any other singer out there right now would not have had the same meaning...

I believe it's in memoriam to her late maternal grandmother (her mom's mom), Delcie Fidler who passed away recently. She meant a lot to Christina. Having been the first to discover her vocal talents & encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Whatever the back story may be, it's a song with such sadness & honesty that it reminds me of my Dad's final days of battling with cancer...

it's about her dad. he abused her mom, and xtina hated him for that and held a grudge against him. then he died, and she is saying she wants another day with her father and forgives him. she did not write the lyrics herself, but its a good song and i like it!
