Texas Chainsaw Massacre was loose baised on a guy named Ed Gein. He was known to consume parts of his victims. You can read more about him on this page:

The only thing has in common with the real guy is that they wore skin. Ed Gein had a whole freakin three piece suit made from skin.

Ed Gein would kill his female victims and make their skin out of lampshades and the skulls out of soup bowls. The writer of TCSM was fascinated with the killer and wrote the story loosely about ed.

Silence of the lambs is loosely based on him, too.

Not 100% but there is a man they relate to the acts. I read his house was a house of horrors. He did eat them and made masks and bone furniture. Check it out on the net...you'll run into it.
