What are you doing to the poor babies? If you care for them properly, most hamsters live WAY longer than two years! I've had extremely long-lived teddy bear hamsters as well as dwarf hamsters.
Some things that lower a hamster's life expectancy: 1) Hamsters are not a small child's pet, that can place undue stress on the animal and increases the risk of them being injured exponentially. 2) They also need a variety of foods beyond their packaged food.

With any luck, a Syrian (large ones) can live for 2-3 years and longer. You can do everything right and still have them die young. I know this from experience, then you get that rare one that lives for over 6 years (maybe even 7 1/2 yrs if the first owner told the truth) between 2 owners. When my boys were toddlers (19 & 21 now), I was given one that the owners had for nearly 3 years (1989 got her,) and it died right after I moved in my present home in 1994 after having her for 5 years. I've spent the last 30 minutes recalculating the years.
