I am looking for a bag that will zipper shut, can be tossed in the washer and dryer and will allow detergent, water and heat to pass through it, so I guess it needs to be some sort of mesh like material. I want to use it to wash my baby's socks. This way I can toss them into this bag and not have to worry about the "sock monster" eating them when I wash clothes. Does anyone know what I am describing, what it's called and/or where I can find one?

I'm not sure what they're called, but you can usually find them at a grocery store on the same aisle with brooms and mops, or with detergents.

this is stated as a "undies Bag" and that i take advantage of them for my little ones socks too! they're large. you may get them at aim, Nordstoms, Macy's, WalMart. they're everywhere, basically ask for a undies bag. this is bearing directly to the 0.5 the size of a pillow case, usually white mesh with one zippered end. they might bypass from the washing gadget to the dryer after which you by no potential lose a sock. The Sesame highway form of infant socks easily comes with between the mesh luggage, besides the undeniable fact that this is teeny tiny. They sell that form at Kmart. maximum suitable of high quality fortune to you in thwarting The Evil Sock Monster!

The bags we have are called garment bags, if you're lucky you can find a package with three sizes included for just a few bucks. These do have zippers. I think we found them at BED BATH AND BEYOND. They seem to be of better quality than the grocery store kind.

I see them at food stores in the area where detergents are sold. They are normally called laundry bags and come packaged in see thru plastic bags. None have zippers but have closures.

Check in that are of the store that has hampers, ironing boards, shoe hangers, etc. If you see any Martha Stewart items you're getting close.
Untilthen, try using an old pair of panty hose or a knee high. Lost socks suck.

I don't know any name for them, but you can buy them at Linens & things or Bed, Bath and Beyond. I have one for my Nylons, because I got fed up of trying to untangle them.
