I would think the best thing would be to give her some money each month or extra pocket money in order for her to buy what she needs. When you first start it can be embarrassing even to ask a mum for things, let alone a dad. Also, keep a stock of painkillers in the house, and if you dont have one get a hot water bottle. Although its embarrassing for both of you perhaps just bring it up and say that you're there for her to talk to, but if she would prefer to you don't mind if she speaks to a woman about it. If theres a female relative or friend she is comfortable with perhaps ask them if they can have a word with her. There are also some good books out there which explain lots of things, and they may even be good for you to read through too.Try Amazon. Overall, be understanding cos periods can be a big deal to some girls and so be patient if she feels upset or moody, but please dont do that annoying thing where you say 'it must be that time of the month' is she gets a bit moody, she'll hate that! Especially in front of other people. Oh, and for PE lessons if she feels she needs to miss them at times during her period be understanding about this-teachers can go on about it not being a good enough excuse, but when I was younger I bled quite heavily and used to feel very anxious about having an accident. If she feels up to it though the exercise can be good, but I'd suggest a pair of dark coloured sweat pants/jogging bottoms so that she will feel a bit less worried about accidents.
I hope this has been helpful!

I know its hard being a single dad raising your daughter.
I would suggest a couple of things that will help.
First thing is to make sure she gets some sanitary napkins (pads) to use while she is on her period. She should keep extra pads at home at all times. If she goes to school, make sure she carrys about 3 pads in her purse or back pack as she will most likely need to change her pad every 2 to 3 hours.
If you have not spoken to your daughter about the birds and the bees (sex) now is the time. It is important that your daughter knows, that now she is ovulating each month meaning she can get pregnant if she has unprotected sex. I would encourage her not to have any sex with any boys if at all possible until she is a lot older.
You can also call the school nurse and ask her to explain all of this to your daughter if you feel unconfortable about talking about this with your daughter. Make sure the nurse tells your daughter that if she does have sex with a boy and its not protected that not only can she become pregnant, but she can also get hiv or aids if the boy has it.
To be safe than sorry, I would make sure your daughter is on birth control at all times to help prevent any unwanted pregnancys.
Hope this helps :-)

a million) purchase her some pads, tampons are no longer needed for her. As for manufacturers, i admire continuously and Kotex, yet relatively any artwork. Get ones with wings (it's going to say on the equipment) cuz those are relatively powerful! 2) stain clever, basically use some bleach, no longer something to fret approximately :) 3) tell her to exercising on a similar time as on her era. It relatively enables cramps, a minimum of for me. If that would not artwork for her, so soreness reliever could be basically high quality. 4) get her a calendar so she will shop music of her month-to-month cycle. Her era might desire to come around a similar time each and each month (yet in the 1st 12 months it relatively is weird and wonderful, it relatively is prevalent) a calendar is relatively powerful so she knows whilst this is coming, and can be arranged. 5) in case you ever choose for any help, ask any superb woman you already know to help. that they had be happy to i'm specific:) anyhow...i'm very sorry for the lack of ability of your spouse. You sound like an relatively solid guy and a large dad, taking good care of your daughter like this. stable good fortune!!

If she has a close girlfriend maybe her mother can talk to her. If not maybe a school nurse or a doctor. If she is starting her period a trip to the doctor maybe good and the doctor can help her understand what is going on with her body. You don't say how old your daughter is. If she is a teenager she may know more than you think. Hope this helps

Make sure that she tells you exactly which type of pads she likes best-get her a few different brands and some of the flushable cleansing cloths. Chances are, she'll be mortified to ask for anything. Just let her know that when she needs new "female supplies" to write you a note and leave it in a certain place where you will see it. That'll make it less awkward for both of you. I agree with the heating pad and the Advil.

Have a female friend or relative talk with her about it. There is nothing worse for a girl than having her father try to explain those types of things. Plus, you won't really be able to answer the questions she has, because you have never been through it.

obviously you want to be there for her, but at the same time not so much in this situation lol... find some one that she'll be comfotable talking to about this- aunt, possibley grandmother, or even if she has a close friend with a mom she'd be willing to talk to. let her go with SOME ONE ELSE to get protection (tampons and stuff). it would be WAY to awkward for her to go with you- no matter how much she loves you lol... good luck, hope it all works out =)
