The real question is what's best for you. Any new model you decide is going to be the same quality as just about any other model you compare to. So it really is a matter of choice. I ride a 1980 Yamaha 1100 XS. I also have a new Harley. The Yamaha is faster.

It all depends on the class you'd like to know about and also, you are looking for in a bike.
Suzuki's 1300 Hayabusa Sport class
Kawasaki's Vulcan 2000 Cruiser class
Honda's Goldwing Tour class
That covers the big bikes and the only ones I ride.

Depends on what you want. A Harley if you want to belong to a group. A reliable bike then the most reliable bikes are Honda and Yamaha.

I have owned EVERY make, and there is very little to tell them apart!
They all have their good and bad points.
It is down to personal preference!
