or what else could it be...it is a 1996 intrepid....i was driving it and went over a bump and it sounded like something broke and started dragging on the ground then the sound stopped....i got out and looked and the car looked low in the rear...i drove it home but then i heard a pop and got out my brand new studded winter tire had blown....spare was put on and i got home....now the car sits...my hubby hasn't had a chance to look at it but said that if the shocks went then the tire may have rubbed against something underneath and a stud may have been pulled out and that is what popped.....what do you think....would one shock done make the car go lower in the back...or just both....and how much to fix do you think?

Please listen very carefully........Shocks/Struts have NOTHING to do with ride height.

Your problem is with the spring set that controlls the ride height on this vehicle.

Spring............not Shock (or strut)

You have struts not shocks for number one. Yes they can both go bad at once. Not only that your springs can get weak with age also. I like driving fast I have an 01 Grand Prix GTP I have changed the strutes numerous times and the springs twice. This is due to taking curves at 90+

It became into captivating! in the present previous, existence grew to develop right into somewhat greater of a around curler-coaster experience. I have been given into only somewhat a development (a rut), and experienced incredibly lots under in the past. regardless of the undeniable fact that, in the now, existence is greater like a digital actuality interest, and it maintains to develop into ever-greater enriching 2d after 2d! And, i can maximum easily say that's an enigma! =) The humorous ingredient approximately "taking a clean highway" is that there are not any roads to take. each step I take is yet a "new" highway; a diverse direction from whence I walked in the past. i do no longer know what wooded area (woods) Robert Frost became into in, yet in the wooded area the place I stand countless paths diverge. {{{ lots love }}}

Wow, ya suspension problems and its the struts for sure. Its gonna be expensive if you take it to a mechanic. a new strut is about 100$ per and then the labor could be 2-300$ go to the junkyard and buy a strut there, much cheaper.....
