What is the difference between Atheism and Spirituality...how are they similar?
This is based on the assumption that we are dealing with Spirituality unconnected with any particular religion. I ask, can this spirituality be extended to the existence of no God? Or does being a spiritual person imply that he believes in God?

Furthermore: All the religions seem to cancel each other out. I cannot accept an answer claiming islam is the solution, or christianity is a solution. In this train of thought, we have dispelled of the Greek belief system, or Thor. Perhaps in the future we will dispose of our current belief systems and adopt new ones. And, technically speaking, Islam is the "newest" religion. Could religion simply be an overarching 'fad?' If nature progresses from simple to complex (evolution of simple organisms to its current stage at humans), how was there a complex being (God) to oversee the creation of the Universe. Is it simply difficult for us to accept beginnings (human evolutionary beginings as a smaller scale example of this).

Finally, how does this connect to the question of spirituality: is it possible to be spiritual and an atheist? Could we have the entire notion of a higher being wrong? The institution of religion, besides providing support for human struggles, also concieves hatred.

This all depends on what the idea of God means to you. If you are talking about a big angry judgmental, punishing white guy that lives on a far off cloud called heaven then I guess I am an atheist to you.

If you are talking about a unifying force that is the sum of all reality then I am a believer in God.

Religion and spirituality are almost polar opposites. One tells you what you should be thinking and asks you to worship a distant God who sees you as a sinner.

The other asks you to think for your self and seek to find God within, exactly where Jesus predicted he could be found. If you actually succeed in making this connection there is no way to go back to the old nonsensical idea of a judgmental God or to the idea of no God.

After this realization It would be far easier to re-convince the world that it was flat.

This question will alway be raised if people don't accept reality. Theists have not accepted Objective Reality, God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.

The 'spirituality' or 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.

The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.

In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being, supernatural entity or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, some will have good things happen to them and some not, some will blame the invisible entity but objective reality wins all the time....no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of theirs to work...sorry

And why does bad things happen to good people all the time? When the tectonic plates crash into each other causing human calamity, they don't worry about Karma, good and bad, evil and riteousness. Life's paths are made up of randon circumstances, some predictable and some not. Most religious people will state that god has a 'bigger' plan for them and humans in general, that we can't know the 'big picture.' Most say there can't be good unless we know or experience the depths of evil.

I'm not saying the religious or spritituality aspect of human nature is bad, it does have a health benefit to our bodies, helping our immune system. Alls i'm saying is that Objective Reality means that there is no such thing as spirituality.

An atheist is one who does not believe in God or that God’s existence can be proven (agnostic). Spirituality relates to a person’s righteousness – love, ethics, how we interact with others. There is no conflict. An atheist can be and in fact, many are, spiritual. And a spiritual person does not need to believe in a God, but he by definition, believes in goodness and righteousness and practices them. And that’s okay.

All religious teachings are interconnected. Truth is one. Just that it has many sides, aspects and dimensions depending on our level of attainment in the order of evolution. Divine instruction is progressive and infinite. We take on first the simple. That learned, we are enabled to take up the more complex and advanced lessons.

Today in line with our our superior knowledge and experiences over the men of Biblical times, New Teachings are being made available. It is time for another upgrading in our spiritual instruction.

During 1800s, Anthropologists had a problem as to how
to classify human beings. One resercher proposed the
expression "intelligent animal". After advanced studies
on monkeys, it was dropped. Another reseacher proposed
"tool using animal". After observing some animals
making wooden tools and sharpening them with knife like
stones, it was dropped. Another researcher proposed
"weapon using animal". A decade ago, a rare film was
shot in African forests. One short monkey was hit very
badly by a big monkey. The short monkey prepared a
wooden knife using stones and hid it on the top of a
tree. After some days, when the big monkey came to
attack the short monkey, it ran up to the tree for the
weapon it has hid and killed the big monkey. The one
thing that the anthropologists found with any group of
human beings, even if they did not have contacts with
the out side world for thousands of years, is
spirituality with some form of religion. So, man is a
"spiritual animal" if you want to call him that way.
"Manush" (human) was so named because he has "Manas" a
mind higher than that of the animals which realises the
divinity in creation. It was present since the creation
of human beings. Religion is the characteristic feature
of most of the human beings. It is as eternal and
and as unchanging as the Almighty. Disbelief by a
few will not affect it.

If you have seen a program on African animals in any TV
channel, you must have observed that all of them look
alike, in shape and size. But, variety is the spice of
life for man. We are as different as our finger prints.
Since man has mind, he always tries a different
approach for the same aim. But, we all know that all
rivers join the same sea. In the same way, all
spiritual efforts finally provide the realisation of
one Almighty.

If a person fails to realise it in one life, his Karma
will drive him towards it in his next life.

By most Western religions definition of God, I would be considered an atheist. However, I assure you that I am not.

To me, spirituality, science, ‘true’ philosophy, and objective discernment are inseparable. In my world, God exist in all without conflict.

A spiritual person can be pagan, agnostic, atheist, or religionist. They only need to be a true believer.
