I would think the greatest songs concerning social justice came out of the late sixties and early seventies, like "War" by Edwin Starr and "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die" by Country Joe and the Fish. I would also think that "Fortunate One" by CCR would rank up there.
There are a ton more, I'd search the web for all the other great ones out there.
Peace :)

Have you tried Woody Guthrie (Dylan was a fan of his). Woody did a lot of songs of peace and protest during the Great Depression including "This Land Is Your Land". Also what about "We Will Overcome" which was a rallying cry during the Civil Rights Movement.

There was a song by Phil Oches called Outside of a small cirlce to friends. and it was written about a girl that was mugged and later died while people ignored her. They walked right by her while she pleading for help. There didn't want to get involved. Look it up it's was a real awaking for a lot of people.

"To those who can hear me, I say- do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish."
— Charlie Chaplin, The Great Dictator
