you should have to pass gym to graduate high school because so many people in this country that are obese that kids should know how to stay fit. Also to pass most gym classes all you have to do is participate and pay some attention to rules and stuff. How hard is that??

Physical Education is important, but sometimes the requirement gets in the way of more important academic classes that will contribute more to one's life. Our high school PE program was a joke; other than fitness testing, we were supoosed to play volleyball and basketball, but many people messed around when they could. I was just annoyed that I had to drop Advanced Chemistry during my senior year in order to take PE so I could graduate from high school. PE should be required, but the program needs to be revamped so that it is not a waste of time, and does not conflict with academic classes.

I personally think that you should only be graded on effort in gym, so that would be easy, but at my school, I have to take tests on every unit in gym, all the sports, so it really sucks, and since i suck at sports, I usually get bad grades, so I don't think anyone should have to pass gym to graduate high school, unless the grade is just on effort, because that is easy.

Oh My Goodness No! But I can see the benefit.

When I was in high school I hated PE, I failed PE and got kicked out of PE... Then my senior year in high school I had to take two PE classes in one term to graduate. It was horrible. But I passed them both and got a PE certificate of achievement award and to this day it is the best award I've recieved just because I had to work so hard to get it. And I felt great about myself!
