Most people will always want to feel superior to others, whether because of their religion, ethnic background, economic status, whatever. That is just human nature. Until everyone gets beyond the need to feel superior or different, prejudice and racism will continue to exist. I don't see it ending any time soon. Employers and individuals have just learned to hide it better.

Patience. Sometimes it takes a while for a report to go through, but keep on reporting. People are, sadly, still racists because of many factors. The first is that they have been taught to be so. Family members indoctrinate children from an early age. The second is that racism is a cover for fear and for a poor self-concept. Racists fear "others" because they think they have no power in and of themselves, that they are really no good, or not as good, as others--remember that racism was nourished in the South by the aristocracy, which used it on poor Southern whites as a means to keep them quiet and docile--no need to demand better for yourself when the black people were always below you.
I know it is frustrating to find racists here. But know that not everyone is one, and that the majority don't like racism and that they report it, just as you have done.

Girl, I just asked myself that same question when someone wrote why are Hispanic women so shallow. It is sad to say that racism is going to be around for a long time. Look at the fact that it is not race anymore, but now it is the war on religion. They are trying to take Christ out of Christmas and the Ten commandments out of the court rooms. Religion is what the United States was founded on and people are so bitter and miserable that they need to prey on other's beliefs, culture, and religion to satisfy their need to see people distraut. People are not going to grow up and 'live and let live.'
When someone categorizes by race, it shows their ignorance and their lack of education. If a Black man/woman bleeds, he/she bleeds the same color of blood as you and I. If a White man/woman hurts due to an emotional loss, he/she will hurt the same way you and I do. What makes racism still present? The fact that because some people (whether Black, White, Hispanic, or German) are raised in the project, they feel that they have to act that way too (ghetto). It goes back to the way they are raised, ask their parents why so much hostility and anger with a different culture, background, race, sex, and/or religion. It is, sometimes, on how they are raised.

When all people start ACTING equal not just screaming that they are not treated equal, I think doing away with affirmative action would be a good start to ending racism.
Another problem is that everything that blacks call racism nowadays really isn't racism at all. Life sucks for everyone from time to time. The more we see these fake cries of racism because someone didn't get their way the more credence is removed from actual racism.

It will be the first working day after your report. I think racism is still alive because people who haven't achieved the things they want in life need to blame someone. Racism comes in all colors and classes but it usually happens in areas where there are alot of people who aren't happy and they go after anyone they think will let them. I've been overseas alot and have been hated for being white, being American, being Christian, and for trying to help. I don't know if I helped or not but I do sympathize.

It does not matter what year it is. There will always be racist because human nature is born into sin.
Bigotry, racism, misogyny, ageism, etc. will always exist as long as humans exist, and if these forms of hate disappear, we will find new reasons to hate one another.
I share your frustration about this, but sadly these sins will be with us until the end of humankind's existence.
I paint a gloomy picture, but all is not hopeless because even though hatred will always exist, so to will love. Try to focus on that.
I bid you peace.

I know I am mad people are racist. People who are racist just don't know why is racism is bad. They think different ways. I wish I or anyone could help Martin Luter King Jr.'s point so people wil REALLY listen! But why will they listen to the people they are racist to. So my answer is if you know anyone who is racist tell them right from wrong. I kinda help someone stop, but they really didn't. But you can if you try.

Whittler, you are making a mistake if you think most racists are ignorant. The Bell Curve of racism is definitely moving towards the right and I am not talking about the political right, either....

I agree, but don't let this board fool you, the world IS still changing.
I live in supposedly one of the most racist towns in Texas, yet I see all races interact and associate all the time.
