San Diego State University - public, nice, but a big school; a Masters in Fine Arts is offered.
Design Institute of San Diego - very small, elite, private, but only offers a BFA, not an MFA.
BFA is Bachelors in Fine Arts. MFA is Masters in Fine Arts.
If you want to start your own business, I would think you would need good salesmanship, good talent, lots and lots of practice, lots of self-studying, and a good business sense. I think all of that would be a lot more important than an academic degree. Usually that type of schooling is for making contacts, working up to getting a small number of really big contracts, or getting a job, rather than dealing directly with the public. It depends on what you really want to do.
Good luck. It does sound really cool.

This depends on what you want to do in the field and how good of an artist you are (drawing, painting, etc.) If it is important to you to get a college degree you will have more choices of where to go if you include art schools that have a major in photography than with just the photography schools. You will get a more hands on technical education at photography schools than at art schools. You will be better trained in photographic processes, techniques and the business side of photography. Art schools will give you a better understanding of the artistic side of photography. You will be required to take classes in other disciplines and art history. You will also be exposed to many different types of art and learn how to incorporate this into your photography. No one can tell you what would be best. Follow your interests and career goals. Both types of schools offer different ways of achieving the same result. Ask yourself whether you would be happier studying just photography or if you would prefer a broader field of study. Good luck
