If I were to say " Every black person I have met is stupid" would you consider it racist. Completely hypothetical question.

People, read the "hypothetical" part. I have many good black friends. I once saw a question similar, and noticed it didnt have many answers, so I rewoorded it and reasked it.

It would, hypothetically, generalize a race in a negative way and therefore, yes, is clearly racist...
Most people here look past the "hypothetical" part, keep in mind that you are not making a comment to a buddy of your personal experience but posting on a public board for all to see.
Your question is probably more rhetorical than hypothetical...

Technically no. You may have met a finite number of black people who were "stupid" according to a defined standard. But also I could say I have never met a non-black person who has an IQ above 60. May come across as racist as well even though it may be hypothetically true. Interesting exercise my good man.

It may very well be that every black person you have met was stupid. In that case it would be a statement of fact, and there would be nothing racist about it at all. However, I would have no way of knowing unless I observed the persons in question so I could make an independent evaluation.

I do not find it racist, just mean. You are not saying that every black person is stupid only the ones that you met, hypothetically.

Maybe. But I don't know you and where you are.
It is possible that every black person you met is stupid...
If you were living in an area where there were few black ppl, then it is possible. I doubt that one race is completely stupid.
But if you said all black people are stupid, that would be a racist generalization.

I don't really think that is racist. I think its a wrong statement to make because they may have thought you were stupid from their perspective. To say every black person IS stupid is a racist statement because you just generalized the whole race.

Yes, it is. And insensitive. It puts you in the position of being able to judge whether a person is stupid and it classifies a group of people based on their race. I could say that every adult I've met is stupid and that's just insensitive but labeling someone stupid + adding a racial component = racism.

No. It is simply a fact, you are making a statement of your experience. It doesn't mean that you might not meet a smart black person in the future.

I don't think that would be racist. Rather, it would be an observation about your personal experiences. Anyone who says it is racist probably just has a victim complex.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! And I'm black myself. It could just be a coincidence or the fact that one might hang around with the wrong crown...
