I think a lot of people hate fast food because they need to blame someone other than themselves for the weight gain.
Truth is, you could probably eat whatever you want if your active enough. Computers, video games, and tv keep too many people on the couch or at a desk.
Don't get me wrong. I would go get a burger and watch a video too but nobody hears me blaming McDonalds, Burger King, or TRANS FAT for anything. There are choices people make but dont want to take the fall for.

I think it is just a worry to some because of the accessibility of it (one on every corner and really cheap). There is no responsibility from the fast food industry to care abou how much people are eating.
But, you are partially right. Some people like to point the finger at fast food because, while a lot of people are pointing and staring at McDonalds or Burger King, other people with no self-discipline are out there stuffing their faces with 2 or 3 Big Macs in only meal.
Society, as a whole and on an individual scale, needs to learn some control by serving and eating smaller quantities.

It goes way beyond the health issues, I hope you're retired already because it you are not you will be paying a lot of taxes to support those people with the health problems associated with a constant diet consisting of unhealthy foods. The next main issue to me is the inhumane treatment of the animals that these fast food places depend on. I don't even want to get started on that tyrant, suffice to say one suffering leads to another. So before you sound off about the media and the hype, look beyond the obvious and dig deep into the issue. You may be paying for this one the rest of your life. Make no mistake McDonald's or KFC ain't gonna step up to the plate and pick up the tab.

Speed Kills.
Fast food kills too. just in a more delicious and grease-laden way.
The problem isnt that some people dont care about being skinny, its that most people dont cares about being fat and unhealthy.
Eating fried, preservative/artificial chemical-laden food all the time is a terrible, terrible burden to place on your body, when, for thousands of years, its been eating fresh fruits, veggies, and meat. And now you have cows that are fed chicken parts rather than grass because of COST, and somehow people aren't prepared for mad cow disease?
Fast food corporations are often the target of grassroots outrage because 1) they're everywhere 2) They're bad for small businesses 3) They're bad for your health 4) They're huge giant corporations that don't care about the community they are in 5) The farms where they buy food from are horrendous, evil places.
In america, money is the king of all kings. then comes speed.
Fast food represents what American society values most.
Fast food combines both: Cheap food, served quick.
And here we are, more than 60% of all adults are obese. Heart problems abound, childhood obesity a looming threat.
Other than that, I guess fast food isn't so bad.

People rant because the food is cheap, fatty and the portions are HUGE. Fast food is not good for everyday eating as it will make you look cheap, fat and HUGE.
Eat where you like, but understand that the choices you make have consequences. I like a good nosh at Popeye's Fried Chicken. I just don't eat there 8 days a week.
..and as for people ranting about something more important, I believe you now fall into this category...:-)

Most fast food is higher in salt, sugar and fat (the bad kinds of fat) than other foods. You can, however, make healthy choices at fast food restaurants such as salads. Salads are about it though. Personally, I think everyone probably has heard what is good for them and what isn't by now and we make our own choices. Others can let us know the consequences of eating certain foods, but they can't decide whether we're going to eat them or not.

Watch the movie "SuperSize Me" and you see what all the obsessed people are talking about. And you say you are more concerned with Fat and Cholesterol. Well Fat and Cholesterol is way High in the Fast foods. That is why the dietitian Dr.'s don't like people to eat their because it highers their cholesterol.

Who’s everyone?
The mainstream loves fast food. This is a "Fast Food Nation".
It's not more delicious than healthy food (at all) it's just cheaper.
Besides being unhealthy fast food joints are also; environment destroying, mom and pop overshadowing, and unoriginal. What’s not to love?

well... why is fast food obsessed with selling unhealthy food? If people don't exercise self control and responsibility, then it becomes the fast-food companies' jobs to ensure that they add nutritious and healthy alternatives to their menus. Obesity is actually very serious problem because it raises the cost of healthcare which means higher taxes.
