Rain Man. Forrest Gump was very well played it was just too over the top. One can relate better to the humanity of Rain Man.
I also think Rain Man worked better to be in present tense rather than Forrest Gump as a story told. It's so much easier to get in to what's happening when it's happening now.

I couldn't even sit through Rain Man, I walked out after a few minutes of it. So I would say that the better character was Forrest Gump, because I watched it several times and it still makes me laugh or cry.

Rain Man but Forrest Gump's character also was incredible because of all the things he accomplished in the movie with his disabilty.

Forrest Gump, simply because it's just to original. There will never be a movie that quite adds up to Tom Hanks and his stupid is stupid does act. Plays the role to a T and by far is the only actor that could have pulled that fill off succesfully. Maybe, a current Leo but back then I'm unsure of another actor that would have been able to do what Tom did with this one.
