According to Plato, as i faintly recall, it refers to making judgements and determinations based on the data received by the senses, and acting upon such in a "logical" manner? ;-) Thus,...acting (only) in logical accordance with data gathered by the physical senses. Hardly a prescription for "consciousness growth", as Plato well knew.
