I've been watching the Dennis The Menace cartoon on Boomerang, and got to wondering which one came first...the cartoon or the comic strip. I know I remember watching it as a kid, but don't know if it was out before then.

the comic strip started in the early 50s
the cartoon started in the 80's
there was also a black and white tv show starring Dennis the Menace in the 60's, they used to (I don't know if they still do) run the reruns on nick at night.
