There are very few jobs available for foreigners in Japan that don't require at least a passing understanding of the Japanese language or a college degree. Those few jobs are mostly in the hospitality industry, and most of them will not qualify you to get a work visa that will allow you to work in Japan legally. Needless to say, the few jobs that pay moderately well, are legal and don't have strict educational requirments will be few and far between and you will have a ton of competition in trying to land one.

To teach English in Japan, reputable education companies like NOVA (who will help you get your work visa, find a place to live and provide support services) require a college degree. Many internaltional companies keep offices in Japan, but in order to work there, you would need to already be an employee of the company and try to arrange for a transfer.

Jobs that are available without degrees or speaking Japanese include bartending, hostessing, modeling, etc... but most of these jobs will not qualify you for a work visa and if you are found overstaying a tourist visa or working illegally, you can be arrested and deported.

I worked for a compnay called LABO in Japan. Bascially it's a English school that teachers kids and adults of all ages after school like a club. I helped teach English and did office work. I went not knowing much Japanese but picked it up real quick. I had no qualifications and got paid 90,000 yen a month plus accomodation and travel paid for.

There aren't really many jobs you can do unless you speak a fair bit of Japanese. You could try bar's or English tutoring. It will be hard too beacuse you have no qualifications but not impossible. Maybe you could spend a bit of money and do a Japanese course to learn at least some Japanese.

You will need to have it arranged before you go with a company to get the right visa. Try searching on international job search.

Good luck with it all.

Edit- you do not need a degree to get a working visa in Japan! I had no degree and got a working visa easy!

No Japanese skills and no degree? No way of getting a work VISA in Japan. I am moving back to Japan in a week. 1 way ticket. I lived there previously for 2 years. My business friend and I (they are Japanese) have started up a company that imports products from here in New Zealand. They are having to pull all sorts of strings to get me over there as I dont have a degree.
But they said I could come over, because I know the culture and the language, and I served here 2 years as a full time missionary. I did have to send over a cassette tape of me just to show them that I was fluent/who I was etc.
You wouldnt even be able to be a garbage collector because you would need to be able to read the kanji to know which is burnable or not.

Well, to get a job in Japan you have to get a working visa. To get a working visa you must have, and be able to document an expertise in the given field of which you are being sponsored. The only other way around the working visa is to marry a Japanese national. Then you get a spouse visa. On a spouse visa, you can do anything if you get hired. The most lucrative work is teaching privately. The big market now is kids. Kindergartens are always looking for native teachers. It becomes a big sales point for them and they pay very well. But just walking around a park, I picked up 4 students at 8000yen an hour. But either way, you might want to learn a little of the language to pick up students.

Good luck.

In order to live and work in Japan as a foreigner, you need a work visa. In order to get a work visa, you will generally need to be sponsored by a company in Japan. Most companies will require a degree in order to sponsor you.

Some countries (not the USA) have a "working holiday visa" agreement with Japan, where you can stay in Japan for up to one year, but there are restrictions on what kinds of jobs you can hold. That does not require a degree, but the lack of a degree will limit what jobs you will be able to find. The Working Holiday Visa also prohibits you from working in the entertainment business.

You will not be able to get a working visa without a degree. And yes they are very very strict. You can go on a year long holiday visa and pick up conversation teaching here and there but it will not be enough to live on (you will have to take your own money too). You will not be able to rent an apartment without a job so your'll only be able to stay at hotels/inns/hostels - or a gaijan house (bit like a student house for non-Japanese)
If you want to live and work in Japan - get a degree.

Why did anyone rate my answer as bad - you can NOT GET A WORKING VISA FOR JAPAN WITHOUT A DEGREE. YOU CAN NOT GET AN APARTMENT WITHOUT A JOB (as you need a Japanese Guarantor). Whats all this talk of working in Gaspanic as a barman - you can not get a proper paid job without a working visa it is against the law and you can not get a working visa without a degree - unless you plan to go as on a Entertainer Visa and you need to be an Entertainer not a barman (maybe is you have an amazing singing/dancing skill in which case get in touch with Disney - but you'll certainly need to improve on your Japanese) . Japan is not a dumping ground for losers who want to get off with J-girls and are really into manga and who on earth would want to work in a pit like GasPanic arrrrgggggggggg.

To get a work visa, you have to have a job waiting for you. I've heard all teaching jobs require at least a BS / BA degree. Unemployment is up, and many young people are looking for work. There's farms that are always looking for foreigners, but I doubt if you'd want to do that kind of work. I would'nt. I'd like to live in Japan myself...

Automobile factory work, bar host/hostess work, waiter, bartender are all possible without a degree, though all require some level of Japanese proficiency.

Gas Panic bar/nightclub hires non-Japanese speakers with no formal qualifications.

You are not welcome here, except for dangerous and the horrible job that Japanese do not like.

Or the bad pay job like the bar staff. If you are girl can work in exploitation business for hostess work, handjob, etc.
Blonde hair is helping in this case.
