As an australian i am sick of the american culture slowly slithering onto australian shores infecting the people and country with graffiti gang mentality and watch america murder on tv which gives people the wrong train of thought .Australia is a place for the family a place that gives people the train of thought to be happy and prosper and i do not get this same feeling from america.Because of outside interfearance the australian culture needs to be reinsured into the australian population as american TV shows in my opinion is wrecking australia and the australia government should ban certain media outlets from allowing the rubbish that comes from america ? Australia was born from an educated european nation england .Priminster John Howard has the right to comment about OBama which reminds me of Osama--- bin laden every time people mention Obama ?pulling troops out of iraq will only strengthen the thought that murder is just ,do americans believe in freedom and liberty?

Hey, here's a good idea. Since Australia is such a great place, perhaps you should avail yourself of its' educational facilities. If I
couldn't spell, punctuate, or form a sentence any better than you
do, I'd not criticize other countries. Maybe it's just me.

In the United States, sometimes we have boycotted sponsors of TV shows thought to be inappropriate. We also have the ability to disallow some programming to be seen on our home TVs. Do you have these options in Australia?

On the issue with Iraq? Not everyone in the USA feels or thinks exactly the same way, so you will get a variety of answers on this type of question. Some people did not want to go to war at all. Some feel the USA should stop trying to police the world. Others supported the war believing Weapons of Mass Destruction were being created for use against other countries. Some changed their support when it was discovered the reports were incorrect. Some who did not support the war, began to support it when they learned of the atrocities committed by Saddam's regime against his own people.

Others are since discouraged by the loss of life of our troups and the citizens of Iraq. The war is over and now we play the role of an occupying force. It seems currently no one has a plan that everyone can agree on as best. We have to keep our nose to the grind and keep trying to work it out. Only the hindsight of the future will confirm whether or not we made the right decisions.

I feel that Australia does not get the credit it deserves for all it has done for the world. Australia has been more than a good neighbor to the USA as well as to many other countries. You've been so humble, but really I think it is time for Australia to stand up for some applause. Thanks for all your contributions!

We loved Steve as much as you guys, and cried when the stingray ended the Crocadile Hunter's TV run. We don't know many more of you guys, sorry.

Truth be told most Americans still consider Australia as still part of the United Kingdom, we are that behind the times. You guys started out as a British penal colony, and became whatever you are today, and the average American knows little else. Thanks for the help in Iraq, and please feel free to say anything you want about Obama. He isn't a neo-con and at this point in American politics, we would probably vote for an empty seat with nobody in it before another conservative.

Still, the reason you guys are still speaking the Queens English is the U.S. navy fought a battle at Midway during WWII to keep you from becoming a part of the Japanese empire. Come to think of it, we might have been a little tardy, but on the other side of the world during that time frame, a few of your British/English founders were pretty glad to see us arrive at that site as well. Right now the world is trying to decide whether to keep your Freedom loving, Judeo-Christian English society or trade it in for an Islamic/fascist fundamentalist one. Nobody likes the situation, we all pray that it will end quickly and justly. We wish Australia only the best life has to offer, and hope you enjoy and appreciate the freedom and liberty you have as much as we appreciate ours..

Good day mate.

I'm an Australian and I hope the world doesn't judge us by your racist unintelligible rant about the USA. If you don't want to watch American television then turn it off mate...otherwise stop whining. Use your brain...nobody can influence you unless you want to be influenced. If you are that weak that a TV show can warp your idea of culture then you are pitiful. John Howard should worry about what is going on in Australia and stop kissing Bush's ass. Obama is pretty good actually if you listen to him instead of being judgmental. And by the way Australia was not only colonised by convicts for the people who continuously harp on about this. Most of the colonies were settled by free settlers much as the USA was. You all need to get your facts straight before you go spouting off about things you know nothing about. I happen to live in America so I can see things from both sides...perhaps if more people did that the world would be a nicer place to live. But don't think this wanker speaks for all of Australia please...because I can state irrevocably that he doesn't.

i am an aussie, and i hope they dont judge us by you. after all, some of us have some education and know how to spell, be gramatically correct, and have correct sentence structure.

comparing obama to osama bin laden is offensive and shows just how intelligent you are. really, a persons name being similar to someone else's does not mean that that person has the same characteristics.

in regards to the television shows and movies, unfortunately if there is a demand for it, someone will supply it. if you do not like it, you do not have to watch them.

yes, i think that aussie culture is slowly slipping away from us, and i wish we could do something to hang on to it, but banning the american stuff? i am sorry, but i am more interested in living in a democracy where freedom of speech and choice is a part of life, than living in a purely aussie culture where we cant do, say or watch whatever we want (which by the way, goes completely against the aussie way of life anyway).

Hey!

No need to attack all Americans for the faults of the few, you are referring to United Statesians only less than 30% of Americans. Please be specific! What fault do Bolivians have of what United Statesians do? one is as American as the other.

Also you may be interested in knowing that there is no such a thing as ‘American’ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

Also, although some people would like to believe that America is not one but two continents North America and South America. If you think about it though the term U.S. of A. is a glaring example that this line of thought is incorrect, if America was two continents instead of one, shouldn’t it be U.S. of N.A. (North America)? We say Columbus discovered..... ? AMERICA, not South America or North America.

Hope that helps.

This illiterate idiot forgets that Australia was founded by and for convicts from the suppossedly "educated european nation england". America is still the best country in the world. As far as the importation into Australia of American culture- SUPPLY MEETS THE DEMAND. If there wasn't a demand for American culture- complete with Tv shows, there would not be any there. As far as believing in freedom and liberty- AMERICANS believe in it more than any other people in the world.

australia is principally eurotrash from the 1700's onward. Hence they behave like eurotrash which is well known to absorb american culture like a sponge. Sorry your mates are from the dumpsters of the English legal system but so are most americans of British descent. And if you guys are so excited about Iraq how about actually sending some significant troops??? I dont think a group that sent a mere 500 guys can comment whatsoever on what the team that has taken 6x that in casualties. Thanks for your ideas however because in a patriotic democracy everyone is welcome to criticize. I would bet however if your country were being bankrupt and had lost 3,000 lives and been lied to consistently you might have a different view.

Geminis. i have accepted plenty that do snitch. They like to communicate even if that is hostile to someone. you imagine Pisces because they opt for to look after human beings's health. by some potential. Capricorn because they are all about being correct and perfect. Taurus because they do no longer have no longer something else to do. All of this in reaction to astrology. by the way, what's incorrect with no longer taking astrology heavily? chatting with Kay over there. that is for leisure purposes purely. lets all be snitches, no remember what signal you're. and also you, you're merely making assumptions that all Pisces are this way, even although you stated that no longer each Pisces are evil. YOU - Are very humorous.
