a very interesting question. worth some research. my own -- non scientific answer is that "survival of the fittest" applies and they did not survive because they were not fit....for the world they lived in. too much food consumption and they had to fight for it -- when that becomes impossible then death is inevitable. my theory. hope it helps.

I think that dinosaurs were inter-species symbiotic. inter-species symbiotic means that a species of animal will depend on another species in order to survive. for example, zebras and baboons stay close because zebras have good hearing and baboons have good eyesight therefore they stay close to avoid predators. another example is badgers and coyotes. Badgers are strong and can dig animals out of there dens. then when the prey runs off the coyote will use its speed to catch it. They then share the dinner. Anyway, the theory is that a large meteor hit the earth 65 million years ago. at the time all the continents were joined together as one supercontinent called Pangea. If dinosaurs were inter-species symbiotic then if a large amount of species went extinct then the species that depended on them would go extinct. Eventually over the course of a few hundred years the whole environment would be thrown outta whack. If alot of herbivores went extinct then that would mean carnivores would extinct because of lack of food. Some people think that carnivores could just eat other carnivores but if they did they wouldnt get there plant nutrients and would die anyway. Carivores got nutrients only from herbivores because of the plants they ate. This is why an environment cant have an unbalanced amount of carnivores vs herbivores. If a meteor caused this much instability then it would cause mass extinction all over the planet. The asteroid was two and a half times the size of mount everest so it also kicked up alot of debris into the atmosphere that killed alot of the dinosaurs to. If this happened then probably half of the life in Pangea went extinct causing more extinctions on the planet. this is the most i ever typed...
If you want more info try reading jurassic park and the lost world. the book versions by Michael Crichton are way better than the movie versions. There my favorite books. my friends are always saying I know to much about this subject for a 13 year old.
hope that was helpful and good luck with learning more about the subject.

Nobody really knows. It's a very contraversial issue in the scientific community. The majority of scientists believe that the Chicksaloob impact wiped them out. Check out Wikipedia for more information on this subject.

The current theory is that a giant asteroid two and a half times the size of mount everest struck our planet in the gulf of mexico, killing everything within several hundred miles radius instantly and sending huge amounts of debris in to the atmosphere which choked and buried the rest of the world for several days.

We arn't exactly sure right now, but our best guess is a massive astroid, climate change, a volcano, or maybe they in fact just killed themselves - eating eggs/offspring etc.

therez a lot of stories..the one know is a comet hit earth and blocked out the sun..and everything in life needs the sun ( plants depend on the sun, herbivores depend on the plants, carnivores depend on the herbivores) ..so they all kinda died
