Ok I'm trying to slim down for the upcoming summer season and to make myself feel and look better in general. I'm not overweight but I'm certainly not skinny. I'm 5'1 and before I started exercising I weight 118, with a goal in mind of 108. 2 weeks later of running on the treadmill and stationary bike for 45 minutes (500 calories according to the machines) everyday I am up to 123? I'm really confused and its very discouraging. I take a multivitamin and also am on celexa for anxiety (just started that around a month ago if that might have to do with the gain) I eat a lot of chicken and snack on carrots and clemintines and eat a 6 small meals (200 calories) a day. Its just not adding up for me, any advice?

Muscle weighs more that fat, don't trust a scale. A scale measures mass.Try and give your body a break during the week, try taking a Saturday off, your body needs the rest, and if you are doing the same things everyday (exercise wise) your body can become use to those types of workouts. Rotate your workout. ie. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, try riding your bike. And Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, do the treadmill. Always remember to stretch before and after, doing this not only helps you in preventing strains or pains, but also helps in lengthening your muscles, and help in blood flow.
Because you are taking meds your body might be retaining water, or like you had mentioned those pills could be giving a side effect of minor weight gain.

I'm understanding you to say your eating only 200 calories all day. If that's correct, you are starving your body and your body will automatically stop the weight loss by slowing down your metabolism, ect. I'm your same height and your goal weight. I lost weight recently by taking in about 800 calories a day. I work out 3 times a week which includes 1 hour on the treadmill (4.0 speed/5.0 incline) and another 45 minutes doing weight bearing exercises for legs, tummy, ect. I burn off about 650 calories each work out session. I eat an apple for breakfast, a large salad for lunch and then a medium size dinner (4 oz meat/ or a vegetarian meal). I also take 1 multi vitamin a day. You will lose weight this way and maintain it.

If people knew how to lose weight, then how come America is the fattest society to ever exist. They are doing many things wrong. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad fats, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event. Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculator to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age).
Many drugs have side effects like causing you to gain weight. See 2nd site below for natural help with anxiety. Drugs only supress symptoms. Not good.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so the exercise is trading your fat weight for the heavier muscle weight. I'm more concerned about limiting yourself to just 200 calories a day. this is not healthy and your body is not going to stand up to this for very long. Go ahead and exercise, increase your calories to 1200 a day and go by how you feel emotionally and how you look to decide if you need to lose more weight. Ask your friends if they think you need to lose weight, I'm guessing they will tell you that you don't.

Are your clothes feeling better and falling off? I would pay more attention to that than the weight.
Muscle weighs more than fat so you could have gained some muscule which is a good thing cause more muscle means faster metabolism. Be patient and continue doing what you're doing and you'll get the results you want.

Calm down! Muscles have weight! Congratulations! Ignore the number and go for how you feel and look, unless you're a jockey riding a horse! Ask your pharmacist about the side effects of the Celexa.

celexa could be causing the weight gain. 1200 cal's of intake and burning off too much could be causing your body to hold onto all the foods you are eating and turning it into fat. just watch how much you are eating and burning.
stressing can cause weight gain too. so if your stressed about losing weight you could be doing your body more harm then good.
muscle weighs more then fat so you could be building more muscle. don't use the scale as a way to see how much your losing. do your pants fit better? are they more loose? use that as a guideline
