I don't think they should

The only teams that want FA Cup replays scrapped are the likes of Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal etc etc that are still involved in the Champions League which causes a fixture "pile up"

They have no consideration for the smaller clubs who make money out of replays - tv, gate money etc etc

No they should not be scrapped - if the bigger clubs want to go for all the trophies then they should just get on with it

It's a tricky question because it can work both ways.

Bigger clubs that are involved get bogged down with replays. Which isn't ideal. You can't argue that they should have sent out their A-Squad to begin with, because at this stage in the season players can be injured or suspended or just needing rested. A one-game tie would be favourable for them as it means their players won't be as tired and they can focus on Europe.

However, smaller clubs can also benefit from one-game ties. In the early games many big clubs often put out weakened teams against opposition which they feel will be a walk-over. This often goes wrong and the bigger team walks away with only a draw and a replay need to decide the tie. If a one-game tie was introduced then perhaps the smaller team would be able to win it in extra-time/penalties and knock the bigger team out.

However, as has been mentioned, for a small club to get to this stage in a competition is a great achievement and they will receive a lot of revenue. Even more so if the game is played at the bigger team's stadium and is televised. So it would profitable for them to have a replay as they would again receive more money. Also the status and recognition that they took the bigger team to a replay would instill confidence and boost morale.

What we could do, is limit the fa cup to only the prem and 1st devision, how many teams in its history have ever won it, that havnt been in the top 30 clubs. That would reduce the games, and stop some of the needless replays. Its always a replay or game like that, that sees injuries to star players. Mind you, its nice to see some footy on the telly for us all to see for free.

quite no longer - area of the magic of the FA Cup is the opportunity of a smaller club getting a higher one again to their floor for a Replay (between the most ideal FA Cup video games I went to grow to be a Replay between non-league Altrincham and Chester city, classic dirt and guts football) i have lost all patience with those over-paid prima-donnas, continually grumbling; "oh, we shouldn't play 4 video games over Christmas and New 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, we shouldn't play at the same time as that is type of snowy" etc. in case you want to prune the fixture lists, scrap meaningless overseas places pre-season excursions that are in trouble-free terms there to make money (there is yet another moan - "we are drained!") and tell Sky and Setanta to take a operating bounce and go back football to that is proper domicile - Saturday at 3pm, UEFA can go back the european Cup to what it will be, a house-and-away knockout with in trouble-free terms 2 golf equipment in line with u . s ., deliver again the Cup-Winners Cup, herald kinfolk Quotas, herald a earnings cap, turn the european Championships right into a eu international locations League, and if the G14 kick off and threaten to breakaway - enable 'em! basically imagine a premiere League the position 10 golf equipment are in with a shout of prevailing each and each and every season - now that is football!

If the Champions League was for Champions there would not be such a pile up of games.
The FA cup should still take precidence over the res and replays should be played.

yes. they do nothing but clog up the fixture list. plus, can you imagine if they had no replays and a big team was held by a conference team and they got penalties! that would restore the magic of the FA cup
Barnet knocking out Chelsea!

definitely. there are too many games for the big teams with champions league fixtures, and internationals for the top players. further, the premiership should be reduced to 18 teams like most of the rest of europe, and the mickey mouse carling cup should just be for championship and below teams. then maybe, just maybe, we might be able to field a first choice national side for international games, with players that aren't either injured or knackered for once!

Maybe they should give the result to the little team in the case of a draw that way the bigger clubs would have to put up or shut up.

i agree cup replays give clubs to oppurtunity to sell more tickets and give players more experience as well as putting football on terrestrial tv so more people get to see their teams play for their license fees

no i dont think they should scrapped, why should they,if wenger does'nt like them. then maybe his team should have played better yesterday and maybe they might have won.please dont let the the so called big four ruin our game, just because they "play to many games" poor loves.if they dont want to play in the f.a cup then maybe they should not enter it in the first place.
