I work for a travel company and I can confirm that the cheapest airline flying from Manchester (MAN) to LA (LAX) is BMI
US Airways and American Airlines are slightly more expensive and then it starts getting alot more expensive with the likes of British Airways.

You should book a few weeks before you go, as prices tend to be cheaper if you cant do a last minute flight. I normally use cheapflight.com, moneysupermarket.com or teletextholidays.co.uk, they will give you a huge option with lots of different airlines so you dont have to check them out individually.

Turkish: www.thy.com
Hungarian: www.malev.com
Italian: www.alitalia.com
These are the cheapest four, I would say. I live in Ireland and I've been flying alot in Europe and I think one of these is the cheapest you will find. Hope this'll help you!!
