Some men hired by the Nixon re-election team broke into the Democratic headquarters at the Watergate building to get info they could use in the election. When discovered, Nixon, who did not approve the break-in, covered it up, instead of turning them in, tried to kill the investigation, resulting in the Watergate cover-up, interferring with an ongoing police investigation, and other illegal moves. Had he turned over the men, he would have never been forced to resign.

The Watergate scandal was about a break-in at Democratic National Headquarters. It was discovered that the participants were involved with Republican members of Nixon's administration. When news of the break-in came out the Nixon administration tried to cover the incident up. That was what led to the hearings and possible impeachment proceedings. Nixon ended up resigning the Presidency. There is a lot more to the story but basically this is what it was all about.

some ppl associated with nixon broke into the democratic headquarters in the watergate hotel and stole some things, and he knew about it...also he recorded over some tapes they found ,basically he didnt want anyone to hear alot of what he had been saying. they had a lot of blank spots (cassette tapes not video) thats all i know

Some people broke into a hotel room to steal some papers. They were caught. Some of Them worked for the White House. They were stealing for the President. He said that He did not know anything about anything at all. He was lying. He was found out and punished.
