oil? On day two of Operation Iraqi Freedom, we controlled their oil fields, their number one port city to export oil, a half dozen oil and gas seperating plants, their major pumping station in southern Iraq, where several of their pipelines converge and an offshore oil export facility. These captured facilities in working order were eighty five percent of Iraq's oil capabilities and we had control as of day two. Question two, where has this oil gone? Here is a link for the information...http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraqi_freedom_d2.htm

Good question and you are right with your assumptions. And to the guy who ask why we pay so much for oil, do you really think we are the ones benefiting from the oil? no it is the oil companies and they could care less if Americans get oil or not. China needs it more than we do and they are willing to pay more for it, use a business mindset and think about it. Our government did not invade Iraq nor Afghanistan for the American people, but for the corporations of the world. Afghanistan corners the drug market and Iraq corners the oil industry, That is why we are in both country's and if you think it is to fight terrorism you are lost in the propaganda. Ask Pat Tillman's family what he told them he saw going on in Afghanistan before he was "friendly fired" upon. Look it up people because without independent research you are at the mercy of the system in which you think does not exist.

The drop in a bucket of oil you speak of is inconsequential. During the invasion I highly doubt the pipeline was operational. What would be the point? Oil is not why we are there though we may use the pressure of oil to turn things in the middle east into our favor. This is not about oil $$$$ there are principles and ideologies at work that far out weigh any ownership of oil and these principles will shape the world of tomorrow to conform to our favor.
This is why it is so hard to garner support from other democratic nations. America will control the heartbeat of the planet and other countries including our allies.

The war was not to STEAL the oil; it was to CONTROL the oil. And it's been done.

In recent weeks the US signed Profit Sharing Agreements (PSAs) with most of the major western oil companies. The Iraqis have nothing to do with it.

It sure is easy to look at something in hindsight and criticize it. Especially if you hate the person you're criticizing. Of course, what you say is possible. I think it's unlikely. Why would you plan on becoming unpopular? Also, if it's to steal the oil, then why are we PAYING so much for it? We should charge the Iraqis for the reconstruction and they can pay with oil.

Iraq controls all of the profits from the sale of their oil, no one else.

Gee, Binky, last time I checked the Evil American Oil Companies BUY the oil they want.

As for our government (the "we" to whom you refer), it has no meaningful amount of oil tankers, no refineries, and no retail outlets.

So, if "they stole the oil", what happened to it, genius? C'mon, fill us in with the whole story, we can't hold our breath any longer for waiting.

While I don't believe it enough to throw accusations around, I do believe it's a possibility, and would like to see it further investigated.
