Pleasure is when you do something to be happy, and happiness is being happy. And yes, you should distinguish between them because you are not always happy when you have pleasure.

The concept of happiness actually being pleasure is an old one dating back to Epicurus and Epictetus (, a Greek philosopher and Stoic roman slave respectively).

Pleasure is defined as "peace of mind" and that is what is generally equated to happiness in those ethical schools of thought.

The difference is whatever cultural norms of the day decide is ethical. The distinction is relevent only if there is a physical set of circumstances you wish to apply the definitions to. Happeiness is spiritual in nature, pleasure is usally considered carnel in nature. The debate has been going on between philosophers for thousands of years, and we aren't going to end it here. Hope I helped.

Very good Q!

You're getting closer!0!

Well, you can get pleasure, or you can give it, but it doesn't happen like this with happiness and this is the reason why nobody finds it. You cannot get happiness, but only give it.

The meanings of words are always shifting. If you want to use "happiness" and "pleasure" to denote completely different things, that's fine; just define your terms.

I would say that, to me, unhappiness is sometimes pleasurable...or perhaps pain brings happiness.

pleasure is from indulging your self. happiness usually deals with harmony of many descriptions.
