Any one ever heard of Hannibal the cannibal? Well I was wondering if a 13 year old could read it? Do you think it would be approriate? I'm very serious and mature and not a silly person who is scared of someting so petty.... Please help.

no way

this isn't petty. It's pretty tough stuff. doesn't matter how old you are or mature.

Suffering and pain: It's not a spectator sport.

Can't you just watch the nightly news for your daily dose of blood, guts and gore?

Better still, Read a good anatomy book with pictures, if you want to experience body parts.

There's Four Hannibal Books:

Red Dragon
The Silence of the Lambs
Hannibal
Hannibal Rising

They're kind of disgusting/scary. Not Bad.

Definitely not recommended for a 13 year old. That guy was highly demonized and was using all kinds of witchcraft. If you love your child you would keep him/her away from that sort of stuff. Why don't you get the D.V.D first and evaluate it yourself: get Hannibal the Cannibal 1 and 2.

I'm a lot older than 13 and cannibal stories just don't appeal. Read it if you like but I think there's lots of better stuff.

I don't see why not. Most movies have just as much violence (or even more) than most books. And if you have seen any of the movies, then there's not really any reason for you not to go ahead and read the book aslo.
