Your husband needs a will. I am 26 and my husband is 41. When he passes, I get everything. When I pass, everything will be split between our kids together and his children, equally. That's the way I want it.
Whether or not the kids are around much is irrelevant. He is their father and grown or not, they should be given certain sentimental things, like their childhood photos, etc, when your husband passes.
I don't have much to do with my own father. The reason is because my stepmother is a selfish and judgemental person.

Depending on the laws of your state, if he dies without a will, usually you get everything anyway but why chance it? Spouse comes first. You two need to talk about your estate plans. Also, if the previous wife is still alive, make sure she isn't on any insurance policies as a beneficiary because they pay out to whomever that little piece of paper designates...they don't care if she has been out of the picture for 20 years...

I was married to a man 22 years older who died.
His ex-wife and grown stepchildren sued me for everything I had.
3 million in alimony and child support arrears.

I do have to pay the ex-wife for the rest of her life.

I did manage to save my home with a revocable trust

You need a lawyer ASAP. Not advise from strangers on the internet.
Trust me your entire life depends on it. DO IT NOW!
