yu gi oh is an egyptian ruler from here time that is sealed from the millenium item that yugi have and yugi also the reincarnation of yugioh

I have not watched the entire series but from what I have watched...one of Yugi's past lives was a very powerful pharoah (Egyptian term used for ruler)...the ghost of this past life or its essence was somehow trapped in the Millenium Puzzle (that big pyramid pendant that Yugi's always wearing).
Apparently, when Yugi's dad found the Millenium Puzzle it was not all in one piece...well, Yugi took it upon himself to solve the puzzle and when he did the ghost was able to communicate and to start sharing Yugi's body.
