Elliott Smith - Everything Reminds Me Of Her

but also (and don't laugh!) Matchbox Twenty's "Last Beautiful Girl" sums it up. More for if you ever had the girl in the first place, but ... could go for someone who everyone else can have except for YOU. (Thanks for nothing, Michele Ervin - 1992) Peep the lyrics:

This will all fall down like everything else that was
This too shall pass and all of the words we said
We can't take back

Now every fool in town would've left by now
I can't replace all the wasted days
The memory of your face - can't help thinkin'

Maybe if we ever coulda kept it all together
Where would we be
A thousand lost forevers
And the promises you never were giving me
Here's what I'm thinking

chorus

It won't be the first - heart that you break
It won't be the last - beautiful girl
The one that you wrecked - won't take you back
If you were the last beautiful girl in the world

Tell me one more time
How you're sorry about the way
This all went down - you needed to find your space
You needed to still be friends
Needed me to
Call you if I ever couldn't keep it all together
you'd comfort me
Tell me 'bout forever
And the promises I never should have believed in
Here's what I'm thinking

chorus

It won't be the first - heart that you break
It won't be the last - beautiful girl
The one that you wrecked - won't take you back
If you were the last beautiful girl in the world

It's over now - And I've gone without
Cuz you're everybody else's girl
It seems to me - you'll always be
Everyone else's girl

This will all fall down
Like everything in the world
This too must end
And everything else that was
We can't take back

There was a song made just for such a purpose.
"Layla" - Derek and the Dominoes (Clapton's band)
Clapton wrote this song because he was in love with his good buddy George Harrison's wife Patti. Clapton spent a lot of time them since Harrison and Clapton would collaborate on songs. Clapton fell madly in love with her. She kind of toyed with him but wouldn't really be with him. Clapton wrote this song just for her. Another other song inspired by the situation were "Have You Ever Loved a Woman?" (very bluesy). If you listen to the lyrics of these songs, I'm sure you'll be able to relate. On the musical aspect, this album had two of the best guitarists in history dueling together. Duane Allman on slide guitar and Eric Clapton on lead makes "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" one of the best guitar albums ever. If you want a multitude of songs for such an occasion, I recommend the whole album.

It would depend on if you want a slow sad song or a more upbeat I will get over you song.

For slower sad song I'd suggest She's by Ryan Cabrera (I know I know it's lame)

For a more upbeat song I'd suggest Over You by Daughtry
