I know for sure that the Denver Nuggets do it but I don't think any other NBA teams do. The Nuggets do it every year.

NBA tryouts are invitation only. You can try out for the NBA development league though. Look up your local team. Te tryouts are usually in the fall and you have to make sure you register early.

To the best of my knowledge, it is on a team-by-team basis and is invitation only. They are usually held during the summer off-season.
