I personally would go with the duramax. more torque and horsepower, easier upgrading, more capacity. and its a chevy.

You are comparing apples to oranges here. A diesel truck is built for heavy duty use. A Tundra can handle a heavy load, but a diesel is built for extra-heavy duty jobs. If you plan to pull a 5th wheel trailer, or something over 10,000 pounds, get the Silverado with a duramax diesel. If you will be pulling your bass boat or something else a regular truck can handle, get the Tundra. People usually buy diesel trucks because they need the extra torque.

These vehicles aren't comparable. The Tundra is like a 1500. The Duramax is only available in the 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 series. It isn't a fair comparison.
However, if you want to compare the 1500 w/ a gas engine to the Tundra, I think the Chevy wins in a lot of catagories (fuel economy, fit, finish, comfort, handling, warranty, dependability), and the Tundra wins in a few (power, GVWR, GCWR).
Overall, I'd rather have the Chevy..

I agree with the above mentioned...if someone is looking for a diesel, it leads me to believe they are doing heavy duty work, and in that case I would look at the F-250, and Silverado 2500 which reliability data rate them both highly.
But if heavy duty work is required, I was dissapointed is seeing that the Tundra only has a "C" channel frame, and not "fully boxed" one (like the competitors have had for awhile). Thats a major oversight on such a new product.

I must agree with the others that state you are comparing two completely different categories.
Chevy=Truck
Toyota=rollerskate
The term Toyota truck is an oxymoron
