What would you say to a friendly tulip and a bitter old cactus?

You talk to the catus and the tulip in the same tone, and treat them both the same. See if it would cheer the cactus up any.

Mabye you could bring the tulip on a trip with you - it might like sightseeing. As for a crabby old cactus, I think it'd be happier by itself.

play some heavy metal music to the cactus and some classical music to the tulip....they'll thank you for it

Whenever I dont have nything in common I generally talk about the weather or movies or stuff. Maybe just sit it infront of the TV so it thinks someon is talking to it.

Your plants sense you're not organically compatible as you do not exude a sunny cholophyllic demeanor. Consider using mulch as a breath deterrent.
