smoke but are subjected to the poisonous fumes dare we go into public) then why is it legal for parents to smoke around their kids? Isn't that some sort of child endangerment or abuse?

Having said that I think of my 28 year old scar from a hernia I got at 8 weeks old due to my bronchitis being aggravated from both of my parents chain smoking around me. I coughed so hard and for so long that my little body got a hernia. Thanks mom and dad.

I dont see why people even need to start smoking. They say it relieves stress, but in actual life doesn't it just cause stress. Look at it this way, when people get stressed they are like I want a cigarette, and when they dont get one, they go of the wall like some hungry baby. I believe smoking in all essence should be outlawed. It does not do anything for the human race but cause problems, big problems like cancer. If you see those commercials, they should give you a better understanding. Like the large majority of people who die from smoking. I do not believe parents should be aloud to smoke around their children because they are giving the message that it is okay to smoke, and most likely when those children are teenagers they will pick up a cigarette and be addicted for life. There are also many health problems that go along with smoking and little children should not be exposed to those sorts of things, especially when they have no choice. But on the other hand it would be really hard for the government to regulate the whole smoking and children thing. But sadly enough American parents nowadays are a little bit of a let down.

I don't know why people smoke. I too have a hernia scar as well. I think people should lose their kids if they smoke around them. Everyone knows about the dangers of second hand smoke now. I think one state is making it a law not to smoke around kids.

I'm a smoker, wish I wasn't.

They don't ban smoking because they tax it, and get a lot of money from it.

If they banned it, only criminals would get the money. There would be another drug cartel going.

So it is better to have it legal, and regulate it.

And legally, we're talking a very hot button issue here when it comes to family law, personal liberty, government authority, and so on - believe me, it is a really thorny area when it comes to what people do in their homes, kids or not.

People should not smoke, and if they do, not around those, like kids, who don't.

Oh, that may be coming. But in general, a person's home is his last bastion of freedom... even the freedom, sometimes, to put his child in danger. I'd like to think that people will eventually stop smoking just because smoking is stupid, and because we have a lot of great options to help quit, *and* to protect their children (both my parents quit when they had kids, thank goodness!) It would be a shame to have to legislate it. But again... that may be coming. You'd be a good argument in favor of it.

I don't think that people should lose their kids, I think that smoking should be banned and not to mention people who do smoke would have so much more money in their pockets. Plus its nasty!!!

1. quit crying

2. quit trying to take away other peoples personal freedoms

3. realize that you can't make laws to keep people from doing stupid things.

EDIT TO ADD---

No I do not smoke!
