are you saying they had no record of your court date and had to reschedule? i doubt that you can have it dropped

It depends on the circumstances, and you haven't given very much detail....
But you should be able to have the case dismissed for want of a prosecution.
However in your case I doubt it, it just sounds like an adjournment.

No, unless they excessively delay your court date, then it is as valid as if it were filed on time.
You may want to bring that up to the judge however, it may have some leverage on your case somewhat. (Depending on the charges of coarse)
