If it isn't brought up or discussed.......how long do we intend to stay if each new plan fails. I am in full support of our troops. Just not the reason behind being there. How bout you talk to some families of troops in a couple years if we are still there with no end in site. Sure they will tell everyone they support the war.....but what do they really think. You have a loved one commited to war that was poorly planned and then horribly managed with Americans dying daily. How many billions are we gonna spend yearly on this war when we have so many needs in our own country for that money. I am not in agreeance of an immediate withdrawal....that would be ridiculous. We created the chaos and need to restore order. You just can't expect that civil issues such as that in Iraq are just gonna cure themselves in a couple years. It's not gonna happen. Best of luck to our people over there and hopefully a safe return for all.

Nothing could be more anti-American than deceiving the Congress and the public into a war we shouldn't have entered as alone as we did.

By the way WHAT islamic websites? Which terrorists?

If we accept your logic, all that would be required to perpetually avoid the necessity of debate would be to keep troops constantly engaged somewhere.

I don't accept that. That's fascist.

So, you're saying that we should base what we do in America according to what terrorists want? "Please, oh please, terrorists, tell us what we are allowed and not allowed to do."

Debate and discussion is at the heart of what a free democracy is all about. That's why the Founding Fathers created a deliberative body like the Congress. If you can't grasp that fact, you're an idiot.

Bayouborn81 what does a bunch of Islamic websites broadcasting whatever they choose to broadcast have anything to do with what I posted? Govenmental debate on the war is necessary, and is not dictated by what anybody posts on their websites. Why don't you STFU unless you have anything to say about democracy and debate.

Nothing could be more American than debating the war. Isn't that what we're fighting for?

I love how those who say we're "fighting for freedom" seek to deny their fellow citizens that right. If words could win wars, we already have achieved "Mission Accomplished". So, according to the adminstration, the war is already over.

So debate away, George said it's OK.

Underground man ,try doing a little research before posting an answer.Jack***.We are obviously talking about the websites all over the place.Like the ones that broadcast soldiers getting their heads cut off.
Liberals never learn and can spin everything, becouse they are too afraid to go to war for this country they care so much about.Questioning a war is not wrong. It becomes wrong when it endangers soldiers like congress is now.

You asked for some sites and why the liberals are seen as anti-American.

Starting a ways back, perhaps you don't remember, but Jane Fonda - a HUGE liberal visited American soldiers being held and tortured in a prison camp. They secretly handed her their social security numbers so that she could let their familes know they were alive. Jane handed the social security numbers over to the captors and God only knows what tortures they endured for trying to get a message home to loved ones.

These sites speak more to what is going on today in the world:

I know liberals don't want war. You know what - conservatives don't either. But liberals look at it and say, "It'd be nice to just stop so let's do that" while conservatives look at it and say, "What's the alternative? If we stop the war on terror that's like stopping the war on crime, drugs, murder, etc. It's simply not an alternative. We have to do what we can to stop terrorists."

The media certainly hasn't helped. They do not show our progress in the war, only our defeats. They show scenes of the worst places in Iraq as opposed to showing what areas have already been secured and are now safer.

What I'd like to hear from the liberals is if we stop this war on terror, what exactly do we do to combat terrorism? Or do we just let the terrorists win?

The terrorists would spin it no matter what. The war was a bad idea, we can't "win" it, we need a diplomatic solution. End of story.

The real question is why are you so concerned with they think or are doing?

If you pressured them to change, do you think they would?

If you care to debate this for real, e-mail me.

oh, leave it to the Republicans to base strategy off of what the terrorists are saying...

I'm sure they aren't trying to play any angles or they don't have anything up their sleeves...

if terrorists said "don't put your thumb up your butt" every Republican in the world would put their thumb up their butt, because the terrorists said not too...

and the war is pretty much over... remember mission accomplished? this is pretty much a horribly botched job of nation building...

when can people comment on horrible decision made then? when will the war be over? 15 years? 50 the rate you're going?

I guess everyone should just shut up until then... even if the current administation doesn't have a clue what it's doing?

Yes, of course. That's the Republican answer to everything - to shut up and be obedient little drones for the wealthy elite. If Americans hadn't spoken up when it counted, we'd still have humans in bondage in parts of this country. Come to think of it, we'd still be a British possession. The Congress and the President are supposed to work for the American people - and they are supposed to do the will of all Americans - not just the wealthy elite.

No--nothing could be more anti-dictatorship (like Saddams) or anti-monarchy (like George III's) or anti TYRANNY than debating a war during a war. The right to question our government is 100% American.
