To thoes who want to explain online play I know all about it. XBOX live subscriber for 2 or 3 years now. I was just wondering what thoes games are all about and why are they so addicting?

people who play those games have nothing better to do than that. Xbox live is so much better!!!!!!

I can't explain runecraft. It's really not that great of a game it's just free to play. Unless ,of course, you want to experience a lot more of the game then you have to pay.
But WOW has the biggest number of subscribers over any other MMO for a reason. WOW contains something for everyone. You can play the game alone and never talk to any other people and it will still be fun because you can do missions and other things.
Or you can join a clan and participate a in joint efforts to raid dungeons, or fight other clans.
There's a hundred other reasons it's a great game but I won't go into here.
and for all the people who say "it addicting don't play", grow a brain. There's over 8 million who play WOW. Of course there's going to be a few who play a little too much but there not all addicted to the computer game.

It can be because of several reasons, the most common, I would think would be-
1. Boredom
2. Meeting people- i.e myspace
3. Hanging out with a random person without getting dressed up.
4. Attempt to leave reality due to low Self-Confidence
5. They just find it fun... I like soccer, so I play it... They like MMORPGs, so they play that.
I was into runescape for like 3 years, member and all, I was obsessed, but then i starting hanging out with my friends more, and forgot about it... i think my account is still active, lol.

my sister has been attached to W.O.W for over a year now. once u start u cant stop, she never goes out at all
its like a whole new lifestyle and community of people on the game, its horrible

Because they have no life and really, that's how they spend their time. I never played one of those games because from what I've heard...it's addicting!

I would think it's mainly cuz on runescape u can speak and trade with other players...makes it more fun and addictive...I LUV runescape

i have no idea. why are people addicted to reality shows, like american idol or deal or no deal? it's the same situation!
